Press Release: William Garcia announces candidacy for Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin
William Garcia will run to become the next chair of the Democratic party of Wisconsin. William Garcia currently serves as the Chair of the 3rd Congressional District Democrats of Wisconsin, and has served 5 years as the chair of the La Crosse County Democratic Party. He is also the Secretary/Treasurer of the DPW Latino Caucus. He was a delegate for Harris/Walz at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
William’s platform is “Grow! Persist! Resist!” He will focus on giving county parties additional resources and support while working to maintain the national focus on Wisconsin politics. He believes the state party should be the loudest and most passionate voice against President Trump’s ambitions. His work will focus on coordinating efforts between county parties, volunteers, donors, elected officials and national Democratic organizers to win Wisconsin.
According to William Garcia, “The county parties of Wisconsin are the backbone of our party, and I am running to give a much needed voice to our local, grassroots organizers. With the explosive growth of DPW and rise in national prominence over the last six years, the county parties have been left behind. The long-term health of DPW depends on local parties having the resources, training and information needed to grow and thrive.”
William Garcia has a Masters Degree in English Literature from Middlebury College and a Bachelors from the University of Texas at Austin in Radio-Television-Film.He taught high school English for 15 years (mostly in Title 1 schools) before moving to Higher Education. He taught First Year Writing at UW-La Crosse and now works as a Support Instructor at Western Technical College. He is a proud member of the American Federation of Teachers Local 3605. He is also a professional theatre director.
“My entire life has revolved around telling stories in one way or another. And this is exactly what I will do as chair. I will tell the story of how Democrats continue to fight to improve the lives of hard-working men and women around the county. I will remind national audiences of the crucial role Wisconsin plays as the narrowest swing state in the county. I will communicate with donors about the necessity to continue investing in Wisconsin Democrats and proving their money is being used effectively. I will work tirelessly to support and inspire our elected officials and local volunteers. I will reach out to every voter, on every platform, in every way I can reach them, to tell the story of Democratic success and Republican tyranny. I will passionately fight the Trump agenda and prove there is a better path to carry our country forward.
